A demonstration of the power of hydrogen, produced using water and electricity.
Video Rating: 4 / 5
PLEASE use caution if you attempt to build this generator for yourself. This generator creates an EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE GAS. DO NOT USE SALT in your water. Many people use salt to add some electrolytic properties to the water, but salt is “Sodium Chloride” and will cause the production of “Chlorine gas” in very small amounts. Whatever you use, always operate this device in a well ventilated area. And NEVER attempt to light the gas as it comes directly out of the tube. The flame WILL travel down the tube and cause the generator to explode. Use extreme caution. ALWAYS use a “Bubbler” to isolate the gas from the generator. I am working on a “flame arrestor” but I have not got it completely worked out yet. This is a hydrogen generator that is easy to build using stainless steel plates which are much more efficient than regular steel. It is also much cleaner. Remember to be safe!!!
You get great milage for the bottle!!!
@bailout00 Now why don’t u hook that produced Hydrogen to power your car like all these videos say u can? I hear they even sell plans on how to do it. Now THAT would
be a video worth seeing.
NASA Rocket Scientists working on the next Apollo mission to the moon. lol
No wonder we never made it to the moon.
Welcome to another episode of Appalachian Emergency Room…
Ah!….Rednecks and explosives what could be better?
did you used a map enhanser?
lol i wouldnt hold that with your hand, i was doin that with mine, but i was holding the bottle with a big set of bbq tongs, and the one, when we lit it the bottle just exploded,
Sweet. How does it work in the car engine? Does it stretch the gasoline economy?
How much liter you produce per min?
So it is best not to have a substantial build up of a perfect 2H2/O2 mix. (even at 1 atm of pressure.) They use that mix to boost hundreds of tons into orbit. Apparently it is the best rocket fuel and maybe the most energetic combustion reaction, at least twice that of methane/O2 which is next highest.
coooooooool
Mega Joules per liter.
Gasoline 34.2
Gaseous Hydrogen at room temperature 0.01079
HHO, two parts H one part O so divide 0.01079 by 3 x 2 = energy density 0.00719 Mega Joules per liter at room temp.
Raise temp to typical HHO cell temp 185 F (60 amps input) gas expands 21.76 percent.
0.00719 divided by 121.76 x 100 energy density now 0.00590 Mega Joules per liter.
34.2 Mega Joules divided by 0.00590, ratio of 5,796.6 to one. One gallon of gasoline = 5,796.6 gallons of HHO.
We were being much, much more careful the first few times we did this, and were not shooing it across a street.
Lastly, we’re not hicks, we’re just geeks with some strange hobbies, and we like to dabble in alternate fuels.
Grow up, and get a life
and since when do hicks steal?
I have guns, love them, and practice gun safety
Second, there was someone watching the street to make sure no one was coming, and its not a busy street.
Third, it is basically impossible to actually hurt someone with the “force” of this blast, as the empty 2 liter weighs almost nothing, and so does any of the shrapnel if it lets go, we were playing catch with some curious cops that stopped by, as well as some people from the firehouse across the street, and they didn’t have problem with it.
there hicks with too much time on there hands, atleast there not stealing.
it doesnt run completely on hydrogen, its a hydrogen gas mix. this is not dangerouse at all.
That’s what I’m wondering
reminds me of my potato gun. Freaking loud and very powerful with some serious kick back
wow
Making a car run on only hydrogen is like driving a H-bomb to work. Although using hydrogen to help out gas can save a couple miles to gallon each trip. Adding the hydrogen generator to air intake can save you the $2,000 to $3,000 a year.
It just isn’t that safe to run completely on hydrogen…
I was woundering does anyone know what elements in a hydrogen generator makes more hydrogen? Is it the number of metal plates or an increase in voltage?
Will our fascination with fire ever end? It’s fun to me.
Warning :
P W M P O W E R has ripped me off for 277.95
No pwm…No efie…No money back!
Tell your HHO friends to use caution buying form these people.
glad these dudes weren’t testing their new rifle….the whole “aim projectile at busy road” thing, while definitely humorous, is the kind of thing you read about in the paper after someone gets killed and wonder how the guy could be so incredibly stupid, hit with a civil lawsuit that garnishes his pay for the rest of his life…
see daniel dingel’s invention here on you tube
This is an older model of the electolyzer. I have since simplified it greatly with about 3 times the output.
I couldn’t give you an exact percentage of oxygen to make the hydrogen burn, but I do know that complete combustion of most flamable materials occurs between 18-21% oxygen. Anything lower than this will achieve incomplete combustion and there is the danger of carbon monoxide being created.
How did you manage to seperate the two gasses?
And what do you do with your oxygen?
How dangerous are the individual products? I’m making a generator at home, and i am separating the individual products. Are they still as dangerous? At what percentage will hydrogen burn with O2?
DO THIS IN A SHED! you do not want a build-up of highly combustable gas in the house or it may look bad when you say “Natural gas leak” to the authorities.
I suggest that you use RO water you can buy from the front sidewalk of a drug store or buy a unit on E-Bay with a storage tank. Or if you want go in and purchase distilled water in the Drug Store, probably a worthless buck and a half. Then you have no residue from impurities.
I also suggest 1/4 20 Stainless steel or thread-all for the electrodes and between 2 gauge and double aught copper wire with crimped silver plated terminals.
wait, isnt hho just h2o, water vapor? wouldnt this make h2 gas?
How do you charge the battery from the generator ? please reply
One comment. I would keep the leads under water to keep them cool. I heard stories that they heat up and may cause a spark. I used all stainless for my leads and kept them under water. Easier to put the cap on and off.
Built one of these today. Half gallon of tap water and half teaspoon of baking soda. Under 15 amps and it pours off the plates. Water turns brown though. Need distilled water. Thanks for the info. Just need a bubbler now
Sorry for the confusion. This generator produces HHO gas which is a highly combustible mixture of Hydrogen and oxygen.
I would like to find a way to seperate the hydrogen from the oxygen to reduce the risk of “flashback”, but I haven’t found a practical solution to that yet.
Thanks for the comment.
Let me ask…Are you producing Hydrogen or a Hydrogen Oxygen mixture? You could determine this by filling up a latex balloon and seeing if it floats. In the video you said H & O but yout title is Hydrogen only.
Sorry for the delay. Yes, i am using a battery charger. You can hook it up to a 12v car battery and it produces even more.
watch your amperage and be sure you do not overload your wires. If they start getting hot, you are overloading them. Use bigger wire or lower your amperage.
Yes, the plates alternate between anode and cathode.
So you are just doing this with a regular battery charger ? Also on the plates, every other one is Anode and then the ones in between those are cathode (ie. one set touches top bolt and others touch the bottom bolt) ???!
watch your internal conections for deterioration … the mixed metal content often causes problems in this type cell configuration … the copper wire and connections can quickly corrode … have seen this cause spark inside container … many use stainless steel straps to connect up to the outside to avoid this problem …
efficiency will improve if you seal up the edges so electricity is forced to pass from plate to plate instead of doing an end run …
